Methodology

Why do we use the communicative method?

The communicative method means that instruction is focused on the student’s ability to react and speak. We don't want our students to become linguists and theoreticians – we want to prepare them for everyday life. We don't want our students to memorize the rules and recite them in class – we want them to be able to use these rules correctly without hesitation. We also don't force our students to make long and boring exercises in a practice book together as a class, and we don't correct every mistake. Mistakes are natural – everyone makes them (even the native speakers). It is not important to speak without any mistakes – it's important to get your message across.

Czech can be a very difficult language to learn, and understanding it in detail requires a lot of time and energy. That is why instead of exploring the uses of the genitive, we focus on what you really want to learn such as ordering in a restaurant, booking a hotel or arranging a meeting. You don't need any theories for these, which is why the communicative method is truly the best in this case.
