Flat Tax 15 %

What does the “90 day probation period” mean in practice?
A three-month period during which the new teacher can expect to be observed by a member of our Academic Office.

Does Caledonian School have a Health Care Plan?
Yes, all full time teachers are covered by our Health Care Plan. This comes into effect 90 days after the probation period, which is 90 days after the first teaching date.

Do you accept applications on a short-term basis?
It depends. As a rule we don’t because with all the paperwork and student dissatisfaction when they will require another teacher during the semester, it’s simply not viable for us. However, if the candidate intends to work from, for example, mid February to the end of the school year then depending on our staffing needs we would be open to this possibility.

Do I need a Visa to work in the Czech Republic for Caledonian School?

Does Caledonian School have a dress code for teachers?
Caledonian School expects its teachers to be professionally dressed when they enter the classroom – whether that classroom is in one of our buildings or that of one of our corporate clients. Those clients expect their employees to come to work dressed professionally, and Caledonian School expects the same of its teachers. As a rule our male teachers should wear black trousers, a shirt and black shoes. Our female teachers should wear smart shoes, a smart skirt, a dress, or trousers and top.

Will Caledonian School pay for my flights or pick me up from Prague airport?
Although we don’t provide this service to our new teachers, a relocation bonus comprises part of our salary policy.

What kind of contract do you offer? For how long will I be contracted to Caledonian School?
We offer our teachers ‘open’ contracts. This means that the time period is indefinite. After the completion of every calendar year, we automatically renew and update the teacher’s contract. Like every school we deeply frown on any teachers leaving in the course of the school year owing to the disruption it causes to the students and us.

Is it possible to contact a current Caledonian School teacher?
Conrad Armstrong, who has taught with us since 2004, will be happy to share his experiences teaching in Prague. Contact him
