ORGANIZATION AND FORM OF POST-SECONDARY STUDIES

Post-secondary studies (except Type 2) were accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic (MŠMT ČR). The curriculum was designed to balance the great amount of theoretical preparation with practical exercises, and the usage of achieved language skills in real life situations. Preparation for international language exams is also part of classes. There is a maximum of 12 students in each study group.

The basic type of post-secondary courses is taught by three teachers. Each of them has a specific role (this concerns the morning courses of English):

  • The Core Instructor - teaches 10 classes a week and covers the basic materials according to the curriculum for the particular language level.
  • The Exam Preparation Instructor -  teaches 6 classes a week and practices the materials covered by the Core Instructor, especially grammar and prepares students for the international language exams.
  • The Skills Development Instructor - teaches 4 classes a week and focuses on Business English and practicing communicative skills.

International atmosphere
The environment in which the classes take place is a very important aspect of studying foreign languages. Caledonian School thus offers a nice international atmosphere and our Caledonian School team is here to help you with solving any problems you may have.

CONTENT FOCUS OF THE POST-SECONDARY STUDIES

Classes in the courses of post-secondary studies are focused on practicing all the language skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We use the communicative method which motivates the students and leads them to independent performance. Students learn to speak fluently and to understand written and spoken English. Vocabulary is oriented to areas of everyday life. Classes reflect the needs of individual students.

Apart from the general focus on the language, the studies also deal with culture, geographical and historical facts, business communication, marketing, etc. Students learn to write their curriculum vitae correctly, they prepare for a job interview, and they work on improving other practical skills.
