Types of courses on offer at Caledonian School
We offer this type of courses not only in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian and Czech for Foreigners.
Our language school also offers courses in Orient languages (Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, Korean), as well as less traditional European languages (Dutch, Swedish, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, or Finnish).
These courses focus on general language knowledge. The classes are designed to practice all language skills: writing, reading, listening, and speaking in everyday situations; using the communicative method.
We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. We also offer weekend conversation courses in English, and German.
These courses focus on practicing and developing speaking skills through selected conversation topics. Grammar and vocabulary input are provided to help students express themselves more accurately.
We offer this type of courses in English and Czech for Foreigners.
General language intensive courses focus on improving all language skills (writing, reading, listening, and speaking). They are suitable for those who do not have time to attend courses regularly or those who need to improve quickly.
We offer this type of courses in English.
Conversation clubs take place six times a semester and they are a suitable supplement to your language learning. Students can use their knowledge and skills in conversational activities based around a selected topic. Free for those who are studying on other Caledonian School courses.

- Business language studies
We offer this type of courses only in English.
This language course helps improve all language skills with a focus on Business English. Students have the possibility of taking the internationally recognized TOEIC test at the end of the semester.
- Courses for Kids and Teenagers
We offer this type of courses only in English.
These special courses are designed for elementary school students between the ages of 6 to14. The aim of these courses is to create a positive attitude to studying and motivate children to study a foreign language.
The courses run in three categories: for children in the 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd to 5th grade and 6th to 9th grade.
We offer this type of courses only in English and German.
These general language courses for seniors focus on common language usage. Classes are designed to practice all of the language skills: writing, reading, listening, and speaking. The older age range of the participants is an advantage to this course, as is the more social atmosphere.
We offer this type of courses only in English.
These courses aim to prepare students successfully for the Cambridge exams. Grammar and vocabulary learning are combined with practicing the language skills necessary for the exams. Passing the exam is guaranteed after meeting all the conditions set within the course.

Courses preparing for successful passing of the Cambridge exams provided that students have really achieved the language level required for passing the exam.
This exam tests students' knowledge of language in the business field.
Courses prepare students to master the specific structure of the Cambridge tests.
We offer preparatory courses on two levels: BEC Vantage and BEC Higher.
- Preparation for Cambridge Exams – ILEC certificate
ILEC is an examination in Legal English. It may be used as proof of the level of language necessary to work in an international legal context or to follow a course of legal study at university level.
- Preparation for TOEFL certificate
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, recognized by more than 7,500 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries. The test is given in English and administered in an internet-based format. There are four sections (listening, reading, speaking and writing) which take a total of about four and a half hours to complete and each section is taken online.
- Preparation for IELTS certificate
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an internationally acknowledged certificate which tests the applicant’s ability to study or work abroad.
Throughout the world, 1.4 million people sit for IELTS every year.
We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish and French.
These intensive language studies are not only for secondary school graduates. There is a selection of 5 types of studies and 4 languages in various combinations. The intensity of classes ranges from 10 to 34 lessons of 45 minutes per week. Student status for secondary school graduates is guaranteed for the duration of the course. Students may move two language levels up in the course of two semesters. There is the possibility of taking a Cambridge Exam, or TOEIC at the end of the year.

Do you need to learn basic English for travelling? Caledonian School is offering courses of Survival English.
The courses will run three months and will help you to acquire the basics of English conversation in a variety of situations such as shopping, restaurants, hotels, transport, medical treatment and giving directions.
We offer this type of courses only in English.
Grammar:
Course focused on practicing grammar. We offer this course on several levels.
Pronunciation
Do you have troubles make yourself understood, even though both your grammar knowledge and vocabulary are fine? Improve your pronunciation skills with our course!
Writing Course
Is your spoken English quite good, but do you have problems with writing? Do you need to improve your writing skills at work, school or just in communication with your friends abroad?
Then the course English Writing is right for you!
Street English
Films in English, American songs – something quite different from what you are taught in classic English courses, isn’t it?
A talk with an American guy – is it still English?
In course Street English we will show you how spoken English can be different, but at the same time interesting and above all useful!
English through Literature
Course focused on reading English texts and following analysis. The literature list results from discussion between the teacher and students. This course is a good way of preparation for entrance exams in English Philology or Translatology.
Situation English - World Tour
Do you want to learn English really used in the actual world? Join us in the World Tour course!
New course on offer! General English classes are focused on the American variety of the language (pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, topics etc.)
Do you want to learn English which is most widely used in the world? Are you interested in the American accent which you hear in movies and TV series? Then the American English course is exactly for you!
Summer language courses in English, Spanish, German, French and Italian. You study during the summer and wait for your friends’ reactions! You can also invite your foreign friends and recommend them courses of Czech for Foreigners.

Summer intensive courses focus on practicing all language skills (writing, reading, listening, and speaking). Depending on the selected duration of the course, participants may move up half a level to one level.
