Types of Courses

Types of courses on offer at Caledonian School

• General language studies
   
  We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish, French and Czech for Foreigners.
    
  These courses focus on general language knowledge. The classes are designed to practice all language skills: writing, reading, listening, and speaking in everyday situations; using the communicative method. You should be able to move up one language level after two semesters of 2x90 minutes a week.
    
  Students now have the possibility of taking the London Test of English

• Conversation
  
  We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish, French and Czech for Foreigners. 
  
  These courses focus on practising and developing speaking skills through selected conversation topics. Grammar and vocabulary input are provided to help students express themselves more accurately. 

• Intensive Courses
   
  We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish, French and Czech for Foreigners.
    
  General language intensive courses focus on improving all language skills (writing, reading, listening, and speaking). They are suitable for those who do not have time to attend courses regularly or those who need to improve quickly.

• Summer Intensive Courses
   
  We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish, French and Czech for Foreigners.
   
  Summer intensive courses focus on practicing all language skills (writing, reading, listening, and speaking). Depending on the selected duration of the course, participants may move up half a level to one level.

• Conversation club
   
  We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish and French.
  
  Conversation clubs take place six times a semester and they are a suitable supplement to your language learning. Students can use their knowledge and skills in conversational activities based around a selected topic. Free for those who are studying on other Caledonian School courses.

• Business language studies
  
  We offer this type of courses only in English.
  
  This language course helps improve all language skills with a focus on Business English. Students have the possibility of taking the internationally recognised TOEIC test at the end of the semester. 

• Courses for Kids and Teenagers
   
  We offer this type of courses only in English.
    
  These special courses are designed for elementary school students between the ages of 6 to14. The aim of these courses is to create a positive attitude to studying and motivate children to study a foreign language. Children now have the possibility of taking the London Test of English for Children.

• Courses for Juniors
   
  We offer this type of courses only in English.
    
  These courses are designed for students between the ages of 14 to16. All language skills are improved using course books for young adults and thus these courses aim to make the future transition to adult courses easier.

• Courses for Seniors
   
  We offer this type of courses only in English and German.
     
  These general language courses for seniors focus on common language usage. Classes are designed to practice all of the language skills: writing, reading, listening, and speaking. The older age range of the participants is an advantage to this course, as is the more social atmosphere.

• Preparation for Cambridge Exams – one year course
   
  We offer this type of courses only in English.
    
  These courses aim to prepare students successfully for the Cambridge exams. Grammar and vocabulary learning are combined with practising the language skills necessary for the exams. Passing the exam is guaranteed after meeting all the conditions set within the course.

• Preparation for Cambridge Exams - FAST TRACK 12 or FAST TRACK 20
   
  We offer this type of courses only in English.
    
  These courses prepare students for Cambridge exams in 12 or 20 weeks provided that students have really achieved the language level required for passing the exam. Lessons focus on the specific structure of the Cambridge tests.  

• Post-secondary studies
  
  We offer this type of courses in English, German, Spanish and French.
   
  These intensive language studies are not only for secondary school graduates. There is a selection of 5 types of studies and 4 languages in various combinations. The intensity of classes ranges from 10 to 34 lessons of 45 minutes per week. Student status for secondary school graduates is guaranteed for the duration of the course. Students may move two language levels up in the course of two semesters. There is the possibility of taking a Cambridge Exam, London Test of English or TOEIC at the end of the year. • Business Basics
   
  We offer this type of courses only in English.
